After a long road filled with numerous unexpected ‘speed bumps’, Barclays Unity Africa – Mozambique went operational with effect 1 September 2015 – Mozambique being the first of 11 countries set to be rolled out under the Barclays Unity programme. This marks a milestone for Barclays Africa’s strategic growth – along with that of its dedicated FM provider on the continent, Tsebo Group Africa.
A formidable Tsebo team, led by Cheryl Basson, Programme Manager – Barclays Unity Africa, has been advancing the group’s ‘African Expertise. Global Standards.’ positioning with a new focus: ‘From Vision to Reality’.
At the same time, a TFS Engineering team, led by Brett Warden – Senior Technical Manager African Operations, has been providing Engineering Risk Mitigation Services ‘UOP’ in various African countries including Ghana, Tanzania, Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Seychelles and Zambia.
Speaking about this exciting new phase, Aubrey McElnea – Chief Operating Officer, Tsebo FS, said:
“Special mention must be made of Cheryl and her team, whose unwavering commitment to this ‘frontier’ programme has helped to make Barclays Unity Mozambique a reality. This achievement involved more than two years of continuous engagement, with an in-depth understanding of Barclays’ country-specific operations; not to mention the complexities of managing any trans-African operation. Cheryl’s own admission – ‘I’m no operator’- has proven to the contrary, her above-average ability to comprehend and articulate operational strategy into practice being matched only by her humility!
People like Cheryl, Brett and their tireless teams make Tsebo Solutions Group a formidable force to be reckoned with. We must also salute the many other Staff who have been working frantically behind the scenes, such as Servco Mozambique (Operational arm), Tsebo Group IT, Finance, Procurement and more, all of whom have been integral to this achievement.”
All of us within the Tsebo Group can look forward to further excellent work from the Africa team, as many more new horizons come within reach.
